Navtej Singh Sarna to be Indian Ambassador to Israel
New Delhi, Mar 28 : Navtej Singh Sarna, who is presently Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Israel.
Navtej Sarna is India's longest-serving spokesperson. The 1980-batch IFS officer will succeed Arun Singh, who is being posted as India's Deputy Chief of Mission in Washington.
A graduate in commerce and law with diploma in journalism, the 51-year-old officer had earlier served in various capacities in Indian Missions in Russia, Poland and Iran besides at the headquarters in New Delhi.
Before being appointed as the MEA spokesperson, he served as Minister (Press) in the Indian Embassy in Washington.
