Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Mar 28 (UNI) The Aurangabad Rural Police have arrested the kingpin behind the circulation of fake currency notes in Vaijapur taluka and have recovered a computer and a printer from his possession.
Following a tip off, the police raided the hideout of the kingpin, identified as Narendra Mule, alias Baba Nalguru, in Ratnagiri district and brought him here today. Police have also recovered fake currency worth Rs 17,000 in different denominations from his possession.
Mule had allegedly disappeared a few months ago when his name cropped up following the arrest of a couple in Vaijapur taluka and recovery of fake currency worth about Rs 2 lakh. The couple, arrested in October 2007, allegedly confessed that they were working as Mule's agents.
Mule had then disappeared and resurfaced in Ratnagiri district posing himself as a deeply religious man and a fortune teller, sources said.
