Kidwai releases info-booklet for ex-servicemen at rally

Ambala, Mar 28 (UNI) Haryana Governor Dr A R Kidwai today released an information booklet 'Hum Safar' on welfare schemes and entitlements for the Ex Service Mens (ESMs), their widows, war widows.

The Governor was the chief guest at a rally attended by thousands of ex-servicemen from Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Yamunanagar organised under the aegis of the Kharga Corps at Convoy Grounds Jagadhri Road, Ambala Cantonment.

Addressing the rally, Kharga Corps GOC Lt Gen J P Singh said that the aim of the rally was to ascertain the problems and apprise ex-servicemen of the services/facilities being provided by the Army and civil administration viz-a-viz render financial assistance to needy widows and provide medical assistance.

He said that ex-servicemen contributory health scheme had been introduced through which they could get membership to get medical facilities.

Another ambitious scheme ESM Helpline would be opened at Military Hospital which would work for the placement of the ESM, he said.

Later, while interacting with ESMs, he ordered to settle the family pension case of Mohinder Kaur (71), resident of village Rasulpur whose only son sepoy Jagtar Singh Sikh Regiment was killed in Sri Lanka while serving with peace-keeping force in May 1989 and of a small boy, Suraj, son of Virender a clerk, who had lost both of his hands after touching 11,000 MW high tension wire.
