Congress asks states to play their role in curbing price rise
New Delhi, Mar 28 (UNI) The Congress Party today said the state governments should make coordinated effort with the Centre to bring down the rising inflation and price rise.
''We are concerned about the inflation going up to 6.6 per cent and the difficulties being faced by the aam aadmi," AICC Spokesman Shakeel Ahmed told mediapersons, while pointing out that the inflationary trend should not be allowed to undo the good budget presented by Finance Minister P Chidambaram for 2008-09.
He said it was not the sole responsibility of the Centre to rein in on price rise.
The state governments should also discharge their responsibilities by taking action against blackmarketers and hoarders.
In this context, he stressed the need for a proper coordination between the Centre and the state governments.
Mr Ahmed said the Congress Party and its President Sonia Gandhi were concerned about the inflation and price rise, and the both would do whatever was possible.
On the complaints of different sections about anomalies in the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations, he said the concerns of the employees would be considered by the government.
