AP Govt constitutes Waste Management Board
Hyderabad, Mar 28 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Municipal Administration Koneru Ranga Rao said the State Government had constituted an integrated Solid Waste Management Board under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Replying to a question raised by R Reddapa Reddy(Cong) in the Legislative Council during question hour, he said the Government had sanctioned an amount of Rs 375 crore and had already released Rs 150 crore.
Mr Rao said the board meeting fixed earlier could not be held on various reasons. It would be held here tomorrow, he added.
The minister said the municipal administration had taken special measures for garbage collection in the city. The dumping centres had been established on the outskirts of the city and sweepers were appointed for sanitation work during night time, he added.
He said there were no dearth of funds for garbage cleaning and for sanitation. The funds earmarked for the Solid Waste Management Board was not diverted, he added.
