AP Assembly adopts Appropriation Bills
Hyderabad, Mar 28 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly tonight adopted by voice vote the Appropriation Bills after an uproarious scenes over Finance Minister K Rosaiah's reference to Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee's views on Judiciary and Media.
Assembly Speaker K R Suresh Reddy put the Appropriation Bill for 2008-09 and the (Supplementary) Appropriation Bill to vote following a marathon discussion after members of the main opposition TDP objected to the Minister's reference to the Lok Sabha Speaker's comments while taking objection to a media report on a judge's observation in a case indicating the government was the biggest encroacher of lands.
The Opposition members were on their feet, protesting against the remark and the Speaker had a tough time to ensure the members did not cross their limits and rake up an unnecessary controversy involving Constitutional bodies.
