Agra, Mar 27: Vandana, the two-and-a-half-year-old girl, who had fallen into a 45-ft deep pit and was rescued by Army jawans yesterday, was undergoing treatment in S N Medical College here.
''Vandana was brought here late last night and after observation it was learnt that the girl was in a sound state of health, besides having fever and some scratches on body,'' S N Medical college spokesperson said today. However, she will be kept under observation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for five more days, he added. While playing, Vandana had accidently fallen into the borewell that was temporarily covered with mud at village Tehra of Saiya area. Hearing the shrieks, the villagers tried to save the girl, but on failing brought the matter to the notice of the administration. Army was pressed into service after police team failed to save the girl. Army jawans dug a parallel pit at a distance of 5 ft and after great efforts saved the minor. After battling for life for about 27 hours, Vandana was found sleeping on her mother's lap this morning.
