Two militants among four killed, tragedy averted in Kashmir
Srinagar, Mar 27 (UNI) Four persons, including two militants were killed while security forces averted a major tragedy in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.
Troops of 14 Rashtriya Rifle (RR) killed a militant in an encounter at Kota Satri Forests in north Kashmir during a search operation. An AK rifle, three magazines and 67 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.
Another militant was gunned down by troops of 6-Grenadiers at Keran. An AK-47 rifle, three AK Magazines, six rounds of ammunition, a wire cutter, a rucksack and a pouch were recovered from the slain militant.
A police spokesman said a 82 mm mortar shell was found near old bridge at Kupwara which was later defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) without causing any damage.
He said a bullet riddled body of an unidentified person was recovered from Rangil Ganderbal. The body was taken away by police for identification.
The body of one Muhammad Ashraf Bafandar, a resident of Boatman colony, Bemina, was fished out from river Jehlum at Krishbal in the down town area.
