Bangkok, Mar 27: Tata Motors today unveiled its locally-made pick up truck here at the annual Bangkok International Motor Show.The one-tonne 'Xenon' costing about Baht 530,000 (Baht 31 = 1 dollar) goes on sale starting today through Tata Motors (Thailand) own dealer network.
''The Xenon pickup has been developed and built in Thailand, specifically keeping the Thai customers in mind. We are hopeful that Thailand and ASEAN region will become key markets for Tata Motors in the near future,'' Tata Group Head Ratan N Tata said in a message on the occasion. Styled in England and using German engine technology, the Xenon will compete against locally-made Japanese and the US rivals in the world's second largest pick up truck market. ''Tata has carried out extensive research in the ASEAN region and found Thailand to be an ideal hub for manufacturing with its strong supplier base, high quality conscious work force and strong auto policy,'' Tata Motors Managing Director Ravi Kant said at the launch.
