New York, Mar 27 (UNI) India's Sania Mirza has ruled herself out of the 2.1 million dollars Sony Ericsson Open tennis tournament in Miami due to a right wrist injury which she suffered during the recently concluded Pacific Life Open.
She announced her withdrawl from the tournament yesterday as the injury troubled her in the later part of event.
The 29th seeded, Mirza was to take on wildcard Sabine Lisicki of Germany in the second round of the Pacific Life Open last week and after she was given a bye in the first round along with other players.
The 21-year-old had been battling the injury since her pre-quarterfinal appearance in the Pacific Life Open.
Now that Sania has pulled out of the event, Ukraine's Mariya Koryttseva has been awarded with a place in the main draw.
