Rahul savours 'churmuri', 'mirchi bajji' at roadside stall
Badami, Karnataka, Mar 27 (UNI) Mallappa, owner of Geetha Darshan, a roadside food joint in the rusty town of Badami, today received an unexpected VIP guest in AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi who savoured the 'churmuri' and hot 'mirchi bajji' chaat here today.
The young Congress MP, soon after visiting the Badami Caves which is a world heritage centre, went in search of some 'refreshment' and found Mallappa's joint and asked the owner for the day's special.
Taken aback by the sudden appearance Mr Gandhi, Mallappa offered the two popular local eaterte -- 'churamuri' made out of puffed rice mixed with masala powders, onion, grated carrot and peanuts and 'mirchi bhajji,' a green chilli dipped in basen and deep fried.
However, Mr Gandhi refused to have idly and wada offered by the owner saying that he had already eaten them repeatedly during his current visit to Karnataka.
A bottle of soft drink he ordered went well with the snacks and Mr Gandhi looked pleased.
After he was finished, a local Congress leader gleefully paid the bill to the hotel owner.
Union Minister Prithviraj Chavan accompanied Mr Gandhi at the snack bar.
