Precious metals rise further

Mumbai, Mar 27 (UNI) Maintaining the upward march, the precious metals registered further gains with silver rising by Rs 300 per kg and gold by Rs 45 per ten gm, amid strong global advice and with the marriage season ahead, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association said.

Standard gold (99.5 purity) opened upward at Rs 12,375 per ten gm and pure gold (99.9 variety) at Rs 12,435 per ten gm, on brisk buying support.

Later, standard gold and pure gold fell and closed at Rs 12,330 and Rs 12,385, at a rise of Rs 45 and Rs 40 respectively, from their last close.

Silver (.999 fineness) variety resumed high at Rs 23,980 per kg on higher demand. Later, it eased and closed at Rs 23,875, gaining by Rs 300 per kg, from its last close.

In London, Gold rose above USD 951.50/952.60, while Silver was recorded at USD 18.32/18.33 from its previous close.

Following are the spot silver and gold closing prices: Silver (per kg) .999 grade: Rs 23,875 (23,575) Gold (per 10 gm): Standard mint 99.5 purity: Rs 12,330 (12,285) Pure gold 99.9 purity: Rs 12,385 (12,345).
