New Delhi, Mar 27 (UNI) The Delhi Police is likely to book Dhirendra Kumar Dinkar under section 304 A of the IPC for causing death due to negligence after Rinki Kaushki, a student of his class died here last night, four months after being hit on head allegedly by him for refusing to take tuitions.

''The FIR could be amended after the post mortem,'' Delhi Police spokespeson Rajan Bhagat said. Earlier, Dinkar was booked under section 336 and 337 of the Indian Penal Code for attempt to murder and causing injury.

Rinki Kaushik -- the class X student of Dinka Model School in Kondli area of East Delhi, who had slipped into a coma after being thrashed by Dinkar -- died of respiratory disorder at 2355 hrs yesterday at Maharaja Agrasen hospital.

The student had been admitted to the hospital four months ago with serious head injuries. Her parents alleged that she had been meted out corporal punishment by a teacher of the school on November 10, 2007 as she was not keen to take tuitions from him.

In December, Rinki slipped into a coma. Subsequently, an inquiry was ordered into the incident by the Delhi education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely. Based on the report of the inquiry, a show cause notice was issued to the school on February 20.

The enquiry revealed that Rinki was physically abused by the teacher and Principal of the school due to which she was admitted to the ICU of Agrasen Hospital for blood clotting in brain. Following the report, the Government recognition for the school was withdrawn.

The Delhi High Court, in its CWP 196/98 (Parents for Meaningful Education Vs. Union of India and Others), prohibited corporal and physical punishment.
