No country has right of 'global policing': Somnath
New Delhi, Mar 27 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today said the aggressive stand of some countries was a matter of concern and felt that no country should take upon itself the role of ''global police'' and impose its will on sovereign countries.
The Lok Sabha Speaker made this statement while welcoming Dr Oleh Bilorus, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Parliament of Ukraine, and the President of Ukraine-India Friendship Group here.
He also voiced concern over terrorism afflicting many countries and felt the need for international cooperation against it.
Supporting India's bid for permanent membership in the UN Security Council, Dr Bilorus said his country unflinchingly supported the claim.
Noting that Indian personalities were popular among the masses, he said while nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore was highly revered in Ukraine, Raj Kapoor was regarded as a national hero there.
