MGM hospital upgraded: Minister
Hyderabad, Mar 27 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Medical Education and Health Insurance Minister G Aruna Kumari today informed the Legislative Council that the Mahatma Gandhi Memorail (MGM) Hospital, Warangal was upgraded to the status of Super Speciality hopsitals.
Replying to a question raised by the members of Teacher constituency, Ch Ramaiah and K Nageshwar, during the Question Hour, she said the hospital was functioning with 1000 beds since 2005.
She said super speciality departments like Cardialogy, CT surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, paediatric survery and urology were sanctioned to the hospital.
Recruitment for the posts of professors, asssociate professors, tutors and staff nurses was in the process. The paramedical and class four posts were being taken on outsourcing basis.
When Mr Nageshawr said the government was showing partiality in providing remuneration in hopsitals at Kadapa and Warangal, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said the government was not showing any partiality in the payment of wages to the employees taken on outsourcing basis.
Dr Reddy said the government had taken up all measures to retain the doctors in government hospitals in remote areas with attractive wages. Hospitals at Adilabad, Srikakulam And Ongole were elevated as semi-autonomous to provide higher wages to the doctors and teaching staff.
