Rajkot, Mar 27 (UNI) City Congress today decided to launch an agitation in front of Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala's residence and also plan to gherao ministers in the city from next week, if the BJP government will not provide shops to demolition affected people in Junction Plot area.
Shops of 82 people were demolished by the Rajkot Municipal Corporation on January 31 last at the behest of BJP.
Congress city executive President Indranil Rajguru, while talking to medipersons here, alleged that BJP had failed to provide the shops even after two months to the affected people, who had lost their earnings in the demolition drive.
The affected people's shops were razed to the ground on BJP's instructions even though they had valid documents of the shops.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Aarti Kanvar had earlier assured the Congress that punitive action would be taken against the officers, if they are found guilty, Mr Rajguru said.
Before she could take action, she was transferred to Bharuch as the new district collector in a short span of six months. Her transfer was politically planned, only to pave the way for those who were responsible for the demolition scam, Mr Rajguru alleged.
Congress will also discuss on the issue with the new commissioner of Rajkot Municipal Corporation, he said.
