Patna, Mar 27 (UNI) The Bihar Assembly was today adjourned following uproar created by the Opposition to accept their adjournment motion over killing of CPM leader Rampukar Mahto.
As sson as the members assembled for the day, CPM member Ramdeo Verma along with other Opposition members, raised the matter requesting the Chair to accept the adjournment motion.
The Opposition members, including Ramchandra Purvey of the RJD, trooped into the well in support of their demand.
Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhry requested the members to resume their seats and place the issue after the Question Hour.
Citing the rules and business of the House, the Opposition members remained adamant over the issue to accept their adjournment motion moved by Mr Verma and others.
The members shouted slogans dubbing the government 'insensitive'.
However, amid noisy scenes, the Speaker began the proceedings of the House and Question hour was taken up.
The din and bustle continued as the Opposition members disrupted the Question Hour following which the House was adjourned till 1200 hours.
When the House met again at 1200 hours, Mr Choudhary turned down the adjournment motion but allowed Mr Verma to place the issue.
Narrating the incident, Mr Verma said that Begusarai CPM district council member Rampukar Mahto was shot dead by the maoists last evening.
He also alleged that the law and order in the state has totally failed unleasing a sense of terror.
Meanwhile, the Speaker took up the Zero Hour business and Opposition members trooped into the well against the rejection of their adjournment motions and shouted anti-government slogans.
Intervening into the situation, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, the government would issue statement on the matter in the House during later in the day following which the agitating members resumed their seats.
