Advani calls up Pakistan PM

New Delhi, Mar 27 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and Ooopposition Leader in L K Advani made a telephone call to Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani to congratulate him on the restoration of democratically elected government in Pakistan.

BJP General Secretary Ananth Kumar said that the Pakistan PM had returned Mr Advani's call to thank Mr Advani for his best wishes for his country's democracy and the moves to free the judiciary. Mr Advani expressed hope that democracy in Pakistan would further survive and he was hoping for normalisation of relations between the two neighbours.

Mr Advani also told the Pakistan PM the steps taken by the previous NDA government under Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his own visit to Pakistan in 2005 to normalise the relationship be it running buses between Lahore and Delhi after the Kargil standoff.
