Srinagar, Mar 27 (UNI) Under Centrally sponsored Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), construction of 3786 school buildings has been taken up from 2002 in Jammu and Kashmir.
An official spokesman said out of these school buildings, construction of 1540 buildings have been completed by March ending last year while 1830 are under construction.
Out of these, 775 school buildings were completed while as 951 are under construction in Kashmir Division.
For the current financial year, there was a target of 2287 primary school buildings to be taken for construction, out of which 805 were in Kashmir Division.
Similarly, at Upper Primary level, construction of 665 school buildings has been taken in hand during the same period, of which 195 have already been completed.
In Kashmir division, 430 upper primary school buildings were taken for construction, of which 131 have already been completed.
He said 2504 additional classrooms have also been constructed under SSA whileas work is in progress on another 2580 additional classrooms across the state.
