22 sportspersons qualify for Beijing

Patiala, Mar 27 (UNI) Twenty-two sportspersons, including nine shooters and five boxers have qualified so far for the Beijing Olympics from India.

This was disclosed here today by Raja Randhir Singh, secretary general of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) while interacting with mediapersons.

He was here to attend the Indian Masters 2008 of the 6th Sardar Sajjan Singh Sethi Memorial Shooting Championship being held at New Moti Bagh Gun Club Shooting Range here.

The list of sportspersons who have qualified for the Beijing Olympic Games so far are-- Athletics: Manjit Kaur (400 metres) Archery: Mangal Singh, Ms Dola Banerjee Boxing: A L Lakhra, 57 Kg, Akhil Kumar, 54 Kg, Dinesh Kumar, 81 Kg, Jitender, 51 Kg and Vijender, 75 Kg.

Shooting: Manavjit Singh Sandhu, Abhinav Bindra, Gagan Narang, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Sanjeev Rajput, Samresh Jung, Mansher Singh, Ms Anjali Bhagwat and Ms Avneer Kaur Sidhu.

Swimming: Virdawal Khade, 200m Freestyle and Ankur Poseria, 100m Butterfly.

Table Tennis: Achanta Sharath Kamal and Ms Neha Aggarwal Wrestling: Sushil Kumar, 66 Kg.
