Six persons kidnapped in Tripura

Agartala, Mar 26: Suspected BNCT extremists equipped with country-made guns and pistols have abducted at least six small traders from Vangmun area along Tripura-Mizoram border last evening, police said here today.

The victims were identified as Sanju Nath (27), driver of a canter truck along with small traders Aju Paul (50), Santosh Roy (40), Kripamoy Roy (35), Basu Deb (26), Khoka Nath (53) and the armed militant had taken them hostage on the way back from Mizo dominated Fuldongsai market.

Police, however, stated that two of the kidnapped persons Basu Deb and Khoka Nath were managed to escape and reached to police early this morning.  Meanwhile, one hardcore ATTF extremist identified as Subhash Debbarma (28) of Tablabari of Khowai had surrendered before Inspector General of TSR yesterday.

He deposited an AK-81 rifle with 3 magazines, live rounds 90 of AK-81, one Chinese Grenade and five US made M-20 Pistol during surrender, police added.
