Musical show to raise money for expansion of traffic brigade
Rajkot, Mar 26 (UNI) City Police in association with the Bol Bala Charitable Trust will organise a live mega musical show of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy here on April 4, to raise money for expansion of traffic brigade.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Khurshid Ahmed said the strength of the traffic brigade needs to be considerably improved to regularise traffic in the city. This will be achieved by raising money through the musical show.
''We expect to raise about Rs 1.25 crore through this show,'' Mr Ahmed said.
With the help of Bol Bala Charitable Trust, the traffic brigade will recruit youngsters to assist the regular traffic staff. At present, the brigade has a total strength of 50 men, who are paid Rs 70 per day, he said.
''In view of the increased vehicular traffic, we require more personnel and plan to increase the strength of the traffic brigade from 50 to 150,'' Mr Ahmed said.
The money raised from the show will also be utilised for the formation of a special Traffic Education Trust and for the welfare of the families of the personnel.
Total number of tickets to be sold for the three-hour musical show is 18,000.
