Historic journey for Moitree Express on Apr 14
Kolkata, Mar 26 (UNI) The Bengali New Year on April 14 will witness a historical event as 'Moitree Express' will begin its first journey from here to Dhaka in Bangladesh.
The passenger train will resume its journey through the existing route touching Gede in West Bengal's Nadia district and Darshana across the Indo-Bangladesh border in Jessor district after five decades.
Sealdah Divisional Railway Manager Swapan Kumar Mondal today informed that the passengers will be notified about the booking of tickets and train schedule at least a week before its commencement.
The train will have six coaches, including Air Conditioned cahir car facility, he said adding that the train would be driven by a diesel engine.
Meanwhile, the railways had invited tenders from the authorized agency operating foreign money exchange to set up a booth for the purpose at Gede station. Necessary arrangements have already been made for customs and immigration checkposts at Gede, situated about one and half km away from the international border.
The employees of Eastern Railway will be assigned for this historic journey.
