File report on alleged torture of Kash student in Delhi, HRC
Srinagar, Mar 26 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has directed the state Director General of Police (DGP) to file a detailed report on the alleged torture of a student of Kashmir University, Muhammad Rafiq Shah, in Delhi's Tihar Jail.
The SHRC gave the directions to DGP and the Commissioner Secretary Home to furnish a factual report by April 16 following strike by students in the Kashmir University recently.
It said the commission considered the alleged torture of Shah, a student of Islamic studies, in the jail as gross violation of Human Rights.
On March 24, students of the Kashmir University (KU) boycotted their classes and protested against the ill treatment of Shah, who had alleged in a letter that he was forced to drink his urine in the Jail.
The students alleged that Kashmiri youths, including students, are being victimised in other Indian states.
They demanded release of Shah, who is in jail for the past three years, as he was innocent and had been framed in a baseless case.
