Curfew in Chittorgarh to be lifted in 2 phases: Govt

Jaipur, Mar 26: Emboldened by improvement in situation in walled city areas of Chittorgarh, where communal clashes were witnessed during Holi celebrations on Saturday, the administration today decided to lift the curfew in a phased manner. "In view of improvement in the situation a six-hour curfew relaxation is being given in two phases between 0900 and 1200 hrs and 1500 and 1800 hrs in the fort city, an Official Spokesman told to the sources here.

He said tomorrow the curfew relaxation would be extended up to 10 hrs between 0900 and 1800 hrs confining the curfew period between during evening and night hours. The administration might review the situation on Friday to decision about the lifting of the curfew completely, he added.

Meanwhile, the situation in the town was peaceful, the spokesman said. The curfew was imposed in parts of Chittorgarh town following communal clashes during Holi celebrations on Saturday, Scores of people, including police personnel, were injured in the violence and several shops gutted in arson by miscreants.
