Lucknow, Mar 26 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) workers today 'gheraoed' Chief Development Officer's (CDO) across the state under Hisab Mango abhiyan today.
''To protest the alleged misappropiation of funds sanctioned for the development purpose, the party gheraoed CDO's in several districts, including Allahabad, Mathura, Jaunpur, Behraich, Lucknow, Barabanki and Faizabad,'' UPCC president Dr Rita Bahuguna Joshi said.
In Siddharthnagar, the gherao was done under the leadership of Jagdambika Pal, who later hand him over a memorandum.
Criticising the Mayawati rule a being anti-people, especially the poor, Mr Pal said, ''the state government was for installing busts of the deceased and ignoring the people, who are surviving.'' The state government was corrupting the beneficial National Rural Emplyoment Guarantee scheme by the Centre, he alleged.
In Pratapgarh, the protest was done under the leadership of former Jaunpur MP Kamla Singh and addressed by former minister Ram Bahadur, UP Cong secretary Om Prakash Pandey, district congress committee president Mohammad Ishaq Khan and others.
Later, they handed over a memorandom to the CDO.
