New Delhi, Mar 26 (UNI) The Central Rapid Response Team(RRT) is positioned at Malda district of West Bengal to oversee the containment measures to check the outbreak of bird flu in the English Bazar block of the district, said an official release issued here today.
Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries of the West Bengal government has notified outbreak of bird flu among poultry in the block on March 19.
Chemoprophylaxis of cullers has been ensured in the district.
Micro planning for health surveillance in the community has been prepared and active house-to-house surveillance within the 0-3 km area has started, the release said.
In the earlier notified areas of Jiaganj and Raghunathganj-II blocks, active house-to-house surveillance is continued. A population of 23,924 has been covered in 0-3 km area.
In 3-10 km area, a population of 10120 has been covered.
The report further says that so far no cases of fever/ URI has been detected. Eighteen fever/URI cases have reported to the hospitals but none of them had exposure history.
Four Animal Husbandry workers involved in culling/mop-up activities are under medical supervision.
Adequate stock of Oseltamivir, personal protective equipments are available with the state/district authorities, the release said.
There is no suspect case of human avian influenza and the situation is constantly monitored, the release added.
