Shillong, Mar 26: The Central Customs Preventive department sleuths have arrested two persons and seized cannanbis (ganja) worth Rs 12.37 lakh from a truck at Mawryngkneng village in Meghalaya.
Official sources said here today that the customs officials seized 495 kg of cannanbis concealed in old garments and plastic articles from the truck bearing registration of West Bengal on March 25.
The truck was proceeding towards Kolkata from Agartala and the cannabis was loaded at a place between Karimganj district of Assam and Rattacherra area in Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. The driver and owner of the truck were arrested and cases registered under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Meanwhile, the customs sleuths are interrogating the duo.
