4 Baroda Dairy directors arrested for joining MLA's Holi procession
Vadodara, Mar 26 (UNI) City police have arrested four directors of the Baroda Dairy for allegedly taking part in a Holi procession led by Dairy chairman and BJP MLA Madhu Srivastav, who created a stir in the political circles here by firing in the air in public to celebrate the festival.
Makarpura police had earlier arrested the controversial legislator under the Arms Act and seized the firearm and a sword that he had demonstrated while leading his supporters on a horseback on Holi.
The police yesterday evening arrested the four directors -- Vijay Sharma, Sanjay Shah, Vijay Parmar and Girish Shah -- under the Bombay Police Act after the chairman named them in his recorded statement.
They were arrested for violating the prohibitory orders issued by city police chief Rajan Priyadarshi against holding of any procession on the occasion of Holi. Later, the directors were released on bail, investigating police inspector R K Lashkari said.
Meanwhile, the process has reportedly begun for cancellation of firearm licence to the legislator for its alleged misuse. The four-time MLA from Waghodia constituency in the district Mr Srivastav, who allegedly coerced and bribed Vadodara Best Bakery carnage prime witness Zaheera Sheikh, to turn hostile during the trial, was issued the gun licence in 2000.
Following Saturday's incident, police seized the firebrand BJP legislator's German-made revolver and reportedly sent a report to Gandhinagar recommending cancellation of firearm licence to him.
