Security heightened for India-South Africa Test Match

Kanpur, Mar 25 (UNI) Tight security arrangements are being made for the third India-South Africa Cricket Test Match scheduled at the Green Park Stadium here from April 11.

District Magistrate Alok Kumar along with other officials visited the Green Park yesterday and took stock of the arrangements.

To maintain proper vigil, the Park would be divided into 22 sections, besides garrisoning local police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) in the studium arena.

Twenty water tankers, besides temporary connections, will be placed to meet the water requirement.

Tickets will be made available for sale at the 10 branches of the State Bank of India from April 8, Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) sources said.

Both teams will be arriving in the city on April 8 and will be staying at Hotel LandMark, UPCA administrative secretary P D Pathak told UNI today.

Mr Pathak said the rival teams will go for net practise from April 9 to 10.

BCCI vice president Mr Rajeev Shukla will be here on a four-day visit from March 29, official sources said.

Meanwhile, cleaning and maintenance work was on with full swing.

Curator Shiv Kumar is preparing three pitches, which will get ready by the end of the month.
