Pension to disabled, aged and widows
Patna, Mar 25 (UNI) The government today said the aged, widows and disabled were getting pension under various schemes in Bihar.
Replying to a short notice question of RJD's Abdul Bari Siddiqui in the Assembly, Social Welfare Minister Rameshwar Paswan said aged people were getting Rs 400 as monthly pension. He elaborated that half amount of this was being given by the Centre and half by the state.
Replying to a supplimentary question of Mr Siddiqui, the minister ruled out any proposal under consideration for enhancement of pension and clarified that the old age pension scheme of the state government was different from that of the Centres.
He further said apart from old age pension the state government was giving Rs 200 monthly pension to the disabled and widows.
Dissatisfied with the reply and alleging largescale irregularities in the old age pension scheme, Mr Siddiqui demanded a probe into the matter by a special House committee.
Later Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhry directed the minister to look into the matter.
