Pawar denies personal vendetta against Dalmiya

By Staff

New Delhi, Mar 25 (UNI) BCCI President Sharad Pawar today denied that the charges of misappropriation of funds brought against his predecessor Jagmohan Dalmiya were due to a personal vendetta.

''Nothing that we do is prompted by a willingness to seek revenge. We do not believe in that kind of approach. We feel there might be differences with others over ethics and ideas, but it should never be made personal,'' Pawar told newspersons.

''If someone has done something wrong, the law will take its course. We will not interfere,'' he added.

Dalmiya has been accused of misappropriating over Rs 2.90 crore from the BCCI accounts.

During investigations, the Economic Offences Wing found that Dalmiya diverted funds from a bank account in Kolkata meant for paying legal fees towards various other expenses.

According to the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria, the expenses included paying personal phone bills, purchasing foreign exchange, car rental, hotel bills and stationary.
