Islamabad, Mar 25 : Senior PPP leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim, who was initially considered the front runner for the post of prime minister before Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani was nominated by his party, has said that he would accept no portfolio in the new government.

Amin Fahim categorically ruled out any role for himself in the new Gilani government.

Responding to a question about the inclusion of his son in the new Sindh government, he said no decision had yet been made, reported The News.

When asked about his resignation from the office of president of ARD, he said the objective of ARD was over after the restoration of democracy.

The security cover around Fahim was withdrawn yesterday after it became amply clear that Gilani would be installed as the new premier.

Gilani is slated to be sworn-in as Pakistan's new prime minister today, as the country returns to democracy after President Pervez Musharraf's nine-year military rule.
