Separatists flock to capital to attend Pak National Day
New Delhi, Mar 24 (UNI) Barring heads of rival Hurriyat factions, majority of separatist leaders from Kashmir today attended the Pakistan National Day function here.
Former moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Maulan Abbas Ansari, senior amalgam leaders Sheikh Abdul Aziz, Fazal Haq Qureshi, Ghulam Mohammad Hubbi, Mohammad Ashraf Lone, G M Bhat, Abdul Mannan Bukhari, Zafar Akbar Bhat, Chaudhary Shaheen Iqbal and Mohammad Yousuf Naqash attended the function.
However, both breakaway Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani and moderate amalgam head Mirwaiz Umar Farooq did not attend the function held on the 52nd anniversary of the 1956 Constitution - the adoption of which is celebrated as Pakistan's National Day.
Similarly, former united Hurriyat chairman Prof Abdul Ghani Bhat did not attend the function because of being unwell.
The Mirwaiz had returned to Srinagar after a three-month tour to various countries.
