Tiruchirapalli, Mar 24: Federation of Service Organisations has appealed to Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad to introduce a daily train with sleeper facility from here to Bangalore and Madurai to meet the rising demand.
In his letter to Mr Prasad, Federation Convenor M Sekaran said the train which was being operated from here to Bangalore for several years had been extended to Mayiladuturai.
The patronage and demand on this route were high with passengers struggling to get accommodation in the train.
The new train could be operated either via Erode or through the Vriddhachalam-Salem route, he suggested.
He also wanted the restoration of the Tiruchirapalli-Ahmedabad Express. The service was cancelled without assigning any reason, he alleged.
