Opposition protests against EGS bill passage
Mumbai, Mar 24 (UNI) The Opposition members in the Maharashtra Legislative Council today staged a walkout as soon as Chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh entered the House to register their protest against the passage of the EGS bill on March 18.
Mr Deshmukh had allowed the passage of the bill despitre it being pending with the Joint Select Committee, a BJP release said.
Later, the Opposition members came back and occupied their seats but did not participate in the proccedings.
The Opposition had also submitted a resolution on March 19 to Principal Secretary of the State Legislature for the removal of Chairman from his post since ''he has lost the confidence of the House'', the release added.
It may be recalled that the Opposition had boycotted the State Budget in assembly on March 19 on the same issue.
