M. Tripathi's book selected for 'Parliamentary Award'
New Delhi, Mar 24 (UNI) 'Democracy - An Indian Concept', a book by noted Gandhian and writer Madhusoodan Tripathi, has been honoured with the 'Parliamentary Award' by the Indian Parliament.
The prestigious award includes a citation and a cash component of Rs 50,000.
The book ''focuses on the Indian concept of democracy, its development, the present scenario, hurdles and expectations,'' an official note from the Parliamentary Affairs Ministry said.
Prof Tripathi, a senior professor in the Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, has received various awards from the World Bank, the Central Government and the Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh governments.
He has authored 60 books on various socio-economic issues. His books 'The Gandhian Philosophy - For National Uplift', 'The Gandhian Message' and 'Indian Education in the light of Western Concepts' have been widely appreciated.
