Lankan couple with Indian passport held
Tiruchirapalli, Mar 24 (UNI) Airport Police arrested a Sri Lankan couple for attempting to fly to Colombo on an Indian passport at the International Airport here.
Police said Muthulingam (58) and his wife Maheswarai (53) came to India as refugees in 1984 and managed to secure Indian passports.
The Immigration authorities caught them when they attempted to catch the Colombo-bound Sri Lankan Airlines flight yesterday.
On pvrsuing the travel documents, the authorities found the couple obtained the Indian passport illegally.
They were handed over to the local police who arrested them. The couple was later remanded in judicial custody.
