Jipmer protest panel's warning on Bill
Puducherry,Mar 24(UNI) Alleging Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Anbumani Ramdoss was making efforts to place the Jipmer Autonomy Bill in Parliament on April 14 without any amendments, the Jipmer Anti-conversion Peoples Action Committee today threatened to intensify the agitation.
Talking to newspersons here, Committee President and Former CPM State Secretary T Murugan said the committee had already said it would accept autonomy for Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) with the condition that free medical facility should be continued, employees remained as Central Government Staff, filling up of Group '' C '' and '' D'' posts with locals and no enhancement in tution fees for MBBS students.
If the Minister attempted to place the Bill without incorporating these clauses, the committee would not drop its agitation, he said.
Mr Murugan charged the Jipmer with 'stopping supply of medicines to the poor and surrendering the funds.' It had also obtained a court order preventing agitations within 500 meter of Jipmer.
Hence, whenever Jipmer Director Subba Rao comes to attend a function outside the 500 meters of Jipmer, he would be gheraoed,he warned.
