Girl resorts to novel protest to win over her lover
Virudhunagar, Mar 24 (UNI) A 20-year-old girl in Lakshmipuram village in Srivilliputtur taluk today resorted to a novel protest to win back her lover by sitting in front of the latter's house demanding him to marry her.
Police said P Jayajothi, fell in love with her neighbour S Sivaperumal (21), a catering student working in a hotel at Chennai. They were seeing each other for the last four years now. Sivaperumal, however, refused to marry Jayajothi as he fell in love with another girl in Chennai.
Annoyed over the betrayal, Jayajothi went to Sivaperumal's house today demanding justice where Sivaperumal's father Subramanian forcibly locked her inside the house and left the village.
The gitl was later rescued by her brothers and the villagers.
The girl then staged a dharna in front of Sivaperumal's house.
Based on the information, police rushed to the spot and asked her to withdraw the protest. But she refused to obey, when the reports last came in.
Efforts are on to trace Subramanian and Sivaperumal, police added.
