Lucknow, Mar 24: Uttar Pradesh police has arrested former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP from Sonebhadra, Narendra Kumar Kushwaha, in rape and extortion case in Madhya Pradesh in January.
Kushwaha was arrested last night after he tried to kill himself after shooting his wife Suman Devi at village Patwadh under Chaupan police station area in Sonebhadra.
According to police, Suman Devi, who received bullet shots, in a written statement before the police said she fell from the balcony of her residence.
The ex-MP and his wife had been admitted to the hospital at Varanasi.
Police arrested Kushawaha, in a SC/ST case lodged at Baiden police station in Sidhi district of MP for rape and extortion.
On February 14, the MP police team had raided the residence of Kushwaha, but he fled the dragnet.
After yesterday's firing, the local police arrested him and informed the MP police about the action.
Kushwaha had been disqualified from Lok Sabha, following his involvement in the cash for query scam.
