New Delhi, Mar 24 (UNI) 'Darpan,' an exhibition showcasing vast areas of research and products of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), was inaugurated here today.
The exhibition displays several models of DRDO's products, including Prithvi and Agni missiles, radars and electronic warfare systems, MBT Arjun, torpedoes and NBC suits.
An interactive audio-visual presentation takes visitors on a journey down the DRDO's 50 years' history.
Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju inaugurated 'Darpan' at the Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC) here.
Addressing the gathering, he called upon the DRDO to encourage students and experts to visit the exhibition and take a glimpse at the organisation's vast areas of research and products.
Mr Raju hoped that an international workshop planned by the RAC this year would help formulate a reliable methodology in scientific recruitment and assessment.
He also commended the centre for undertaking campus selection from reputed institutes and the recent induction of NRIs through video conferencing.
The Minister called upon the DRDO to find ways and means to attract talent and retain them.
Earlier, Dr M Natarajan, Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister and Secretary, Defence Research and Development, said the time has come for the DRDO to offload certain tasks to the industry.
He also suggested that a policy must be devised for scientists to migrate from the DRDO to industry and back.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr W Selvamurthy, Chief Controller (Research and Development), highlighted the products developed by the DRDO, ranging from missiles to readymade meals, and the spin-offs to the industry.
