Guwahati, Mar 24 (UNI) Recovery of a 'cycle-bomb' in Central Assam's Kamrup district has sent the entire security apparatus in Assam into a tizzy as police today found highly-explosive materials fitted to it, which could wreak havoc.
The explosive-laden cycle was seized by police on March ten following the arrest of ULFA cadre Binoy Baishya, but it was only today that police found the highly explosive material like TNT fitted to the sophisticated device, the first to be found in the state.
Rural Kamrup SP Debojit Hazarika told UNI the explosives were found after revelation by Baishya, who was in the custody of Rangiya police station.
Only the switch was left to be fitted to the cycle, the SP said.
Police had also seized a huge cache of arms when Baishya was arrested in Sualkuchi.
The SP informed that the cycle-bomb was the first of its kind to be found in the state and it could point to the growing improvisation that the rebel group ULFA was undergoing.
Baishya was today brought to Sualkuchi police station, and interogation was on to unearth other details.
