Congress MLA tenders apology in Punjab Assembly
Chandigarh, Mar 24 (UNI) Opposition Congress MLA, Harminder Singh Jassi had to tender an apology in the Punjab assembly for certain derogatory remarks he had passed against Jagdish Sahni of the BJP.
The remarks were passed when Mr Sahni was speaking on a point of order during the discussions on the Budgetary Estimates for the next fiscal year.
No sooner had the Congress member uttered the words that Industries Minister Manoranjan Kalia was on his feet pointing to the conduct of Mr Jassi. Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal also refered to the comments made by the Congress member and demanded that Mr Jassi tender an apology to Mr Sahni.
Taking note of the remarks, Speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon asked Mr Jassi to apologise to the BJP member and ordered that the remarks be expunged. The matter was settled after Mr Jassi tendered the apology.
