Katihar, Mar 24 (UNI) Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP's) national General Secretary Tariq Anwar today said Below Porerty Line (BPL) families in most parts of the country, including Bihar, were deprived of the benifets of the Public Distribution System (PDS).
Speaking to mediapersons here, Mr Anwar charged the state governments for lacking willpower to successfully implement the PDS schemes for the redressal of grievances of the poor.
He said because of the flaws in the PDS in various states and 'inefficient' administrative machinery to check corruption at various levels, the poor were deprived of the benefits of PDS.
Mr Anwar further maintained that the Centre was trying to check hike in the prices of basic commodities following recession in the international market.
