Rajkot, Mar 24 (UNI) To ease the congested road traffic in the city, the civic body will construct two flyovers on the 150-foot ring road under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
Rajkot Municipal Commissioner Aarti Kanvar told reporters that the flyovers would be longest in Saurashtra, stretching across 1.3 km.
The project, to be completed in 18 months, will cost approximately Rs 31 crore of which Rs 19 crore will be allocated by Central Government while the remaining will be borne by the local administration. The project is part of Rs 110 crore Bus Rapid Transport Scheme (BRTS) under JNNURM, city Mayor Dhansukh Bhanderi said.
The breadth of both the flyovers will be around 7.5 metre. A special seven-metre road will be built for the BRTS route, for buses from Gondal road to Jamnagar road, Ms Kanvar added.
