Bhubaneswar, Mar 23 (UNI) Senior IAS officer Srikant Paikray today passed away in the Kalinga Hospital here following a brain haemorrhage.
He was 52 and is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
Mr Paikray was the Additional Secretary to Orissa Industries Department and Director of the Technical Education and Training.
Mr Paikray was in the hospital after he collapsed while delivering a lecture at the government's Women's Polytechnic college here on Wednesday last.
He suffered a massive stroke that induced brain haemorahage and was in coma since then.
His body would be taken to Swargadwar in Puri for his last rites.
Mr Paikray, the son of former communist leader Gangadhar Pakiray, had held many important posts during his carreer and was instrumental for the reservation of 30 per cent of seats for women in engineering colleges.
