Srinagar, Mar 23 (UNI) Announcing that her party has outlined a roadmap for holistic empowerment of the youth of the Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti said the future of the young population is inalienably linked to political stability and economic prosperity of the state.
''Despite passing through the darkest era of our history, the main source of the state's confidence is the substantial potential of building upon its young human resource for which PDP has already outlined a roadmap for holistic empowerment of the youth,'' she said.
Addressing a public meeting at Nowpora in Chrar-e-Sharief constituency today, Ms Mehbooba said even in the most trying circumstances, the state's young boys and girls have done it proud in whatever field they took a plunge.
She said the only area of concern for our youth is the lack of latest technological educational facilities and inadequate job opportunities.
However, she said with three new universities opened in as many years and five additional campuses added to the existing ones and a major initiative of upgrading and expanding the education and technical training, the state is now to some extent poised to catch up with the emerging economic and educational scenario around us.
She said the central government's proposed move to declare Jammu and Kashmir a special Educational Zone, as has been demanded by her party time and again, is a welcome step that would revolutionise the State's educational and technical training scenario.
Acknowledging that unemployment is the biggest challenge for the state, Ms Mufti said the turmoil has not only made the state's youth to suffer immense psychological and social commotion, but has also deprived them of the fruits of globalisation and economic liberalization sweeping the region.
