Mysore, Mar 23 (UNI) The Janata Dal (Secular) national President Deve Gowda today ruled out the possibility of having alliance with any political party, including Samajwadi Party, in the elections to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
''There is no question of having alliance with any party at the moment and I have been pointing it out since the beginning. The party would contest all the 224 seats,'' he told mediapersons here.
Mr Gowda said a nine-member committee headed by his son Kumaraswamy would be formed soon to decide about selection of candidates for the Assembly polls.
''There is no question of taking one sided decision on allotment of seats,'' he added.
When his attention was drawn to a statement made by Samajwadi Party state President S Bangarappa about the party's chances of having alliance with JD(S), Mr Gowda said ''I have great respect to Mr Bangarappa and even had sympathy for his defeat in 1989 elections when he was in Congress. I have no information what Mr Kumaraswamy has said on this issue. However, party's state political committee would decide the future course of action.'' UNI BSP GKT RP BST1927
