TN Assembly session postponed to Mar 26
Chennai, Mar 22 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker R Avudaiappan today announced that the State Assembly, which met for the Budget Session on March 20, would have no sittings on March 24 and 25 to enable Ministers and Legislators to visit the rain-hit areas in their regions.
Talking to newspersons here, the speaker said as Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has instructed his ministerial collegues and Legislators to visit the rain-affected areas and take up immediate relief measures on a war-footing, the Assembly was adjourned by two days.
''Following requests from variours leaders of the Legislature parties and members of the business advisory committee, we have decided to adjourn the House for two days on March 24 and 25, by invoking the provisions of Assembly rule 26 (2).'' Mr Avudaiappan said the business scheduled for the two days would be taken up on March 26 and 27.
The House would meet at 0930 hrs on March 26 and begin the debate on the state budget for the year 2008-09.
